The House of Alijn
Daily events and special occasions define the rhythm of our lives. Days turn into weeks, months into years. The House of Alijn explores customs, traditions and rituals from the recent and distant past. From your first baby photos to your first heartbreak, from playing marbles in the playground to enjoying your yearly summer holidays, and from celebrating your retirement to parting with loved ones.
How we deal with these moments and emotions evolves over time, both personally and universally. The museum takes you on a journey through a rich collection of objects, pictures, sound and movies. All of them show that daily life is far from ordinary.
